ADA LOVELACE: THE FIRST COMPUTER PROGRAMMER
In this subject, I have been able to learn about Ada Lovelace, a figure who defies the expectations of her era in the history of technology, where the names of great inventors and scientists mostly predominate. Known as the first computer programmer, Ada was not only a pioneer in a field that was just beginning to develop, she also broke gender barriers that still exist today.
She was born in 1815, at a time when women had very few educational and professional opportunities. Despite these limitations, Ada received a solid education in mathematics and sciences. Later, she had the opportunity to collaborate with Charles Babbage, who invented the analytical engine, marking an important milestone in her career. As a result, Ada developed an algorithm to calculate Bernoulli numbers, which many consider the first computer program in history.
I think that Ada Lovelace demonstrated that intelligence and talent know no gender and highlighted the importance of providing equal opportunities to all individuals, regardless of their gender. Her life and work teach us that curiosity, knowledge, and perseverance can overcome any barrier and also reflect the importance of education, collaboration, and vision.
Below, I am showing an image I generated with AI in class, where you can see Ada Lovelace working with Charles Babbage.
